gap technical are currently supporting several FMCG, food manufacturing, and automated warehouse operations who require experienced Maintenance Engineers to provide short-term shift cover and ad-hoc contract support.

This opportunity is ideal for engineers looking to pick up additional shifts, cover planned absence, peak production periods, or support during breakdown-heavy operations.

Scope of Support

Engineers will provide electrical or multi-skilled maintenance support across high-speed, highly automated environments, ensuring equipment uptime and safe operation.

Typical Responsibilities

• Reactive breakdown support across FMCG production lines, food processing equipment, and automated warehouse systems
• Planned and preventative maintenance during production and non-production periods
• Electrical fault finding using schematics and diagnostics
• PLC fault-finding and interrogation (Siemens / Allen Bradley or similar)
• Support of conveyors, sortation systems, packaging machinery, robotics, AS/RS, and material handling equipment
• Identification and rectification of repeat faults
• Working safely within food hygiene, GMP, and permit-to-work systems

Engineer Profile

• Time-served Maintenance Engineer or equivalent industry experience
• Electrical or Multi-Skilled background
• Previous experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, or automated warehouse environments
• Confident working on automated machinery, conveyors, motors, drives, sensors, and safety circuits
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
• Available for ad-hoc shift cover (days, nights, weekends)
