The role

This role is a key management role within our client's business, heading up their Quality function and reporting directly into the CEO as part of the senior leadership team.

There is a vital need to work collaboratively with production and operations whilst independently monitoring results as part of technical investigations. The role of the QA team is to actively ensure they are building a positive reputation for reliability with a level of consistent quality in our products and services. This bolsters customer trust and confidence in the company, brands and their products, ultimately enabling the business to compete with others in the same market aiming to establish long lasting success.

Performance Objectives

  • Manage the site's Food Safety Management System, including the role of HACCP Team Leader.
  • Oversee the approval and ongoing review of suppliers
  • Handle technical and QA enquiries, including the customer's approval process and administering any specific requirements including the completion of technical & supplier questionnaires.
  • Conduct the site's internal and supplier audits; host third party audits for BRC and relevant accreditations.
  • Coordinate the annual HACCP and Management Review Meetings.
  • Ensure the site is compliant to all relevant UK & EU food laws.
  • Manage customer and supplier complaints via the non-conformance procedure; ensuring robust corrective & preventative actions are implemented
  • Identify and administer requirements for inspection and external laboratory testing of ingredients, raw material and finished goods where necessary
  • Interpret analysis reports including microbiological and allergenic data; managing the control of non-conforming products.
  • Conduct on-site training of staff including induction, company policies and procedures.
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture across all Quality Assurance and technical functions
  • Execute key Quality Assurance strategies, goals and action plans to contribute to the achievement of business objectives within a fast paced, collaborative, highly matrixed environment
  • Work in partnership with the Production, Supply Chain and Commercial teams across the business ensuring continuous improvement in Quality Assurance processes
  • Drive and influence the continuous improvement culture throughout the team and promote a positive, progressive and collaborative working environment.
  • Engage and lead team acting as coach and mentor to develop performance.
  • Deliver key presentations to senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver a Quality Assurance strategy for the group

Person Specification

  • You will be an established leader with a proven track record of delivering results across Quality Assurance with strategic capabilities as well as being hands-on, efficient and confident with technical execution.
  • You will focus on the importance of talent development, including building a high performing Team.
  • You will focus on the attention to detail and will maintain an organised and analytical approach to your work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build strong business relationship with diverse customer and vendor groups.
  • Strength of character resolve and drive for results. Someone who enjoys working within a fast paced ever evolving organisation.
  • Experience of interpreting, analysing complex data sets, with ability to translate with ease into purposeful communications.
  • Experience of leading presentations to Senior Leaders and external customers.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement experience within a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.

Performance Objectives

  • Lead and schedule the mechanical, electrical maintenance with your team in accordance with established technical standards and production programmes, in order to ensure the highest productivity in terms of quality and quantity while safeguarding and boosting compliance with safety measures as well as those of environmental prevention.
  • Make the necessary modifications to the facilities to improve the efficiency of the facility in terms of productivity and safety.
  • Organise and supervise the work and operations of your team in preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance, including electrical, electronic and communications systems as well as mechanical aspects.
  • Analyse daily, the information provided by shift teams on plant performance and take action to improve.
  • Ensure the appropriate stock level of the material means necessary for the established preventive and corrective maintenance work
  • Monitor, analyse and promote actions to improve the efficiency of electrical, electronic and communications system and general mechanical installations, taking appropriate actions.
  • Generate an adequate working climate as well as attend and manage the problems and incidents raised by the people in your care, looking if necessary, to support other people / departments involved, acting as spokesperson for your team of collaborators
  • Track the budgets of spending and investment orders.
  • Observe the needs of the plant for possible investments and improvement of facilities

Person Specification

· Degree in Engineering discipline

· Knowledge in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering

· FMCG knowledge is essential

· Track record of improvement projects using Continuous Improvement techniques

· Proven record in people performance management with evidence of building, managing & motivating successful teams on a large scale, shift working operation

· Technical knowledge & understanding to be able to answer team member's questions & doubts. Understanding of site processes is desirable

· People management and coaching skills - ability to identify and develop team members, set expectations, provide follow ups & make day-to-day decisions

· Ability to analyse root causes & implement decisions. Continuous improvement tools (5s; TPM; SMED, etc.) & production management tools (JIT, 6 sigma, etc.) knowledge is desirable

· Deep understanding of maintenance management tools (TPM, TQM, SPC, etc.)

· Ability to develop & maintain good working relationship with colleagues at all levels

· Good level of communication skills across different levels within the organisation

· Competent computer skills - SAP & MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
