The woks involve new line installation within an FMCG new install

Purpose of role

  • Assisting the Site CDM Manager in the Management of site Health & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation on the CDM project.
  • Assist in the development and implement Health & Safety initiatives to improve health & safety at site level.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be part of the change making process to working practices that are safe, practical and comply with legislation.
  • Uphold and input into the implementation of Construction Phase Plans, help provide regular reviews and updates as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of Health and Safety site-based strategies and initiatives.
  • Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.
  • Play an effective role as part of the site-based Health & Safety team.

Person Specification

  • NVQ level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Qualified in occupational Health and Safety to at least NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
  • Has a proactive and practical attitude to Health and safety.
  • Has a good practical knowledge of health and safety.
  • Has a good working knowledge of site-based activities, hazards & risks
  • Able to use Microsoft Office to a good level including Excel, Power Point & Word.
  • Work involves 5-6 days per week

Performance Objectives

  • Refurbishment project on an existing building
  • Ensuring all health, safety and environmental procedures are always maintained
  • Temporary Scaffolding experience would be preferred
  • To work with the team to make sure the projects are delivered by the company's deadline, in budget and to the highest standard.
  • Responsible for the management of subcontractors, communicating with them daily to ensure work is being undertaken to plan and the relevant standards are being achieved.
  • Monitor the use of utilities to ensure costs do not exceed the budget
  • Regular communication with the MD and other managers to keep them updated on any progress, concerns and actions being taken.
  • Ensure site records are maintained
  • Oversee the safe delivery and execution of work on site

Person Specification

  • Be well presented and distinguishable as the team leader
  • Have excellent construction technical skills and current training certification to back this up.
  • Be highly self-motivated and have a positive can-do approach to drive the project to a successful completion.
  • Be able to work in a team, reporting to a contracts manager and managing junior managers.
  • Demonstrate good team management and leadership skills.
