Quantity Surveyor

£55,000 - £65,000

gap construction are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a well-respected residential main contractor with a longstanding reputation for quality across East Anglia. Performance Objectives

  • Take full commercial responsibility across residential construction projects from inception through to final account.
  • Accurately prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, valuations, and cost reporting to ensure financial objectives are achieved.
  • Procure subcontractor packages, evaluate tender returns, and administer contracts in line with company procedures.
  • Assess and certify subcontractor valuations and variations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Identify and manage risk, including financial, contractual, and programme-related aspects.
  • Work closely with the project management team to ensure cost efficiency and value engineering throughout.
  • Prepare and submit monthly CVRs and cost reports to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with company and client commercial reporting standards.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the residential construction sector, ideally for a main contractor.
  • Strong knowledge of JCT forms of contract and residential construction processes.
  • Excellent financial and commercial acumen with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Skilled in cost control, tendering, and procurement strategy.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and construction-specific software (e.g. COINS, Viewpoint, or similar).
  • A collaborative and proactive approach with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
