Automated Warehouse Engineer

Days/Nights/Weekends

£58,437.84

gap technical are seeking an Automated Warehouse Engineer to join our client.
This role offers the chance to be a key part of a fast-paced, high-tech logistics operation. As an Automated Warehouse Engineer, you will ensure the continuous running and efficiency of cranes, conveyors, elevators, shuttle cars, and the Logistics Rail Head, supporting a state-of-the-art warehousing environment.

Performance Objectives

  • Ensure smooth operation of the automated warehouse system.
  • Carry out all planned preventative maintenance safely and within set deadlines.
  • Diagnose and repair faults quickly to minimise downtime.
  • Maintain all warehouse plant and machinery, ensuring operational readiness.
  • Conduct weekly testing of sprinkler systems and pumps.
  • Drive continuous improvement of warehouse systems and processes.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors on site, ensuring compliance with site rules and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Despatch, and Filling teams to optimise performance.
  • Uphold health and safety standards, including safe equipment use, PPE compliance, accident/incident reporting, and housekeeping.

Person Specification

  • Time-served in a recognised Apprenticeship in Electrical or Multi-skilled Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical).
  • Qualified to HNC/HND level in Electrical or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience post-apprenticeship in a similar engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of three-phase motors, inverter drives, hoists, drive gearboxes, and PLC Siemens 7.
  • Welding and fabrication skills (advantageous for mechanical bias).
  • Previous experience in high-pressure logistics or warehouse environments, ideally in food, drinks, or packaging.
  • Experience with automated cranes and automated conveyor systems highly advantageous.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting ability.
  • Comfortable working at heights (up to 35m).
  • PC literate with excellent communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, with proven leadership capability.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
