Project Manager

Location: East Midlands
Job Type: Contract 12 Months

Rate £500p/d Outside IR35
Industry: Food Manufacturing / FMCG / Engineering

The Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, execution, and successful delivery of engineering projects across food manufacturing operations. The role requires strong knowledge of manufacturing systems, design, and project delivery within a regulated environment. The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered safely on time, to budget, and in compliance with industry standards and site requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver engineering projects, from concept design through to commissioning and handover.
  • Develop detailed project plans including scope, schedules, budgets, and resource planning.
  • Coordinate with production, maintenance, quality, H&S, and external contractors.
  • Oversee the installation of equipment, piping, conveyors, packaging lines, and utilities within food facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, food safety standards, and site engineering policies.
  • Carry out risk assessments, method statements, and project documentation.
  • Manage third-party suppliers, fabricators, and contractors to deliver against project requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and implement solutions to improve efficiency, reliability, and hygiene.
  • Support equipment upgrades, new line installations, and site expansion projects.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in the food, FMCG, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Strong knowledge of design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Experience with conveyors, packaging equipment, utilities (steam, compressed air, chilled water), and hygienic piping systems.
  • Excellent project management, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency with CAD, project management software, and MS Office tools.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Competent in the use of project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Project Management Qualification (Prince2, APM, or equivalent).
  • Budget Management and financial forecasting experience.
