Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £50,000

Location: Wrexham
Working Pattern: Days Only (Mon-Fri)

gap technical is proud to be representing a leading heavy industry manufacturing business in its search for Maintenance Engineer with Mechanical bias to join their production facility near Wrexham.

Key Responsibilities

  • Playing a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment across the site.
  • Working as part of the Maintenance Team, they will carry out planned preventative maintenance, respond to equipment breakdowns, support installation projects and contribute to continuous improvement activities that maximise plant availability and support customer service objectives.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and implement corrective actions for recurring faults.
  • Prioritise maintenance activities within your designated production area.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and undertake repairs to minimise production downtime.
  • Maintain and service manufacturing equipment including mixers, blenders, ball mills, screw feeders and conveyor systems.
  • Diagnose faults efficiently using technical documentation and machine history.
  • Work collaboratively with production teams to ensure maximum equipment uptime.
  • Support and train operators in basic maintenance tasks and assist with more complex repairs when required.
  • Maintain machinery in line with safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime and improving reliability.

Candidate Requirements

  • Completed a time-served engineering apprenticeship (preferred).
  • Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing, process, engineering or heavy industrial or Chemical environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience of welding, fabrication and pipe fitting.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Commitment to safe working practices.
  • Strong communication, planning, and organisational skills.
