Electrical Project Engineer
Location: Wirral, Merseyside
Rate: £42.00 per hour - Outside IR35
Start - ASAP
Gap Technical is recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing business for an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to support a range of machine upgrade and capital improvement projects at their Wirral facility.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in industrial electrical projects, machinery safety, compliance and project delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple engineering projects from concept through to commissioning while ensuring compliance with current machinery legislation and site standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage electrical engineering projects from initial concept through to completion.
Lead machine upgrade, retrofit and improvement projects.
Produce, review and update User Requirement Specifications (URS).
Review and update PUWER assessments and associated machinery documentation.
Prepare project specifications and engineering documentation.
Produce accurate project costings, estimates and quotations.
Manage project budgets, timelines and resources.
Coordinate installation, commissioning and validation activities.
Specify electrical equipment and liaise with suppliers.
Manage external contractors, ensuring works are completed safely, on time and to specification.
Support machine safety reviews and risk assessments.
Ensure compliance with PUWER, BS EN 60204-1 and relevant machinery safety legislation.
Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Operations and Engineering teams to minimise downtime.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve machine reliability, safety and performance.
Skills & Experience
Apprenticeship and/or HNC/HND Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Proven experience delivering electrical engineering projects within manufacturing or industrial environments.
Experience writing and updating User Requirement Specifications (URS).
Strong understanding of PUWER and machinery safety compliance.
Experience managing machine upgrade and capital projects.
Ability to produce project costings and quotations.
Experience managing contractors and external suppliers.
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and control equipment.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Desirable
Experience with PLC-controlled machinery.
Knowledge of Functional Safety
Experience working within FMCG, food manufacturing, pharmaceutical or automated production environments.
AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN experience.
IOSH/NEBOSH or Project Management qualification.
